Biomass potential of solid waste

The map includes estimates of biomass from solid waste that can be utilised as energy to generate electricity and heat. The main source of calculations is the annual agricultural statistics from the National Statistical Authority and these calculations reflect the available quantities of solid waste categories in mass (tonnes) and energy (MJ) at the level of municipal districts. The statistical calculations are indicative of the potential as they depend on the adoption of a large number of parameters. More detailed applications are hosted on the pages of the National Energy Data System at www.ypeka.gr. 3rd edition, December 2009 (raw data until 2006).
